How to Clean Diamond Jewellery at Home

I'm Diamond Evde Pırlanta Temizliği

A gentle routine can remove everyday residue, but the setting should always be checked first.

Check the setting before you begin

Look closely at every prong and stone. If a stone moves, a prong looks bent or the piece has suffered an impact, stop and take it to a jeweller. Cleaning should never come before a security check.

Use a soft touch

For securely set brilliant-cut diamond jewellery, use lukewarm water with a small amount of mild washing-up liquid and a very soft toothbrush. Work gently around the back of the stone, where soap, hand cream and skin oils tend to collect. Rinse carefully and dry with a lint-free cloth.

What not to do

Do not use a hard brush, abrasive powder, bleach or force. Delicate pavé and baguette settings contain many small stones and should preferably be cleaned by a professional. Traditional foil-backed or rose-cut jewellery should not be soaked because liquid can affect the backing.

Professional care

Home cleaning removes surface residue; it does not polish the metal or repair a setting. Periodic workshop care allows the jeweller to inspect the prongs, clean hard-to-reach areas and restore the finish safely.
